A vending machine business is fairly low-cost where startup is concerned. The basics will simply be your machines and your stock. As is the case with most businesses, however, you’ll need to spend a bit of money to do it right. When you start out the right way, you’ll find that it’s much more fun to run your business and that you’ll start to generate profits much more quickly than you would if you were more or less winging it. The first part of any business is tracking your money and setting a budget.
Figure out how much you have to spend on your vending machine business when you first start. You don’t want to take all of this money and put it into machines and stock, however. First, you’ll want to establish a system of tracking your money. There are plenty of ways to do this, from some very sophisticated, and sometimes expensive, software suites to a lined journal. Either way, make sure that you’re spending a sensible amount. If you can only start with two machines, it’s better than going overboard and risking money you simply don’t have to spend.
Your vending machine business will require that you have some means of getting around to service your machines. At the outset, you can probably get by with most anything, even a compact car. You may worry about having enough room to accommodate your machines, but consider the fact that there are almost no occasions where you’ll need to carry all of your machines at once. You don’t have to go buy a full-size pickup truck to start out a vending machine business. In fact, you don’t have to go out and buy much of anything at all.
The basic supplies you’ll need will include cleaning supplies for your machines, stock to fill them up, some sort of security device, such as a steel cable, to tie them down and little else. Licensing and other legal requirements should be taken care of in advance of starting your business or of ordering your machines. Once you’re ready to go, you’ll find that the money you spend to stay in business is very low compared to many other enterprises. If you set your machines up in the right areas, you’ll also likely find yourself making a decent profit fairly quickly.
